Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran meditasi mindfulness terhadap pemaknaan kebahagiaan. Penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya telah mampu menjelaskan hubungan antara meditasi mindfulness dan kebahagiaan, tetapi belum dapat menjelaskan proses yang terjadi di dalamnya. Maka dari itu, selain dapat memperkaya literatur tentang mindfulness dan kebahagiaan, hasil dari penelitian ini dapat menawarkan salah satu pendekatan yang dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan seseorang. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis interpretatif fenomenologis. Penelitian ini melibatkan tiga orang narasumber. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur. Proses validasi yang dilalui adalah validasi komunikatif, di mana data dapat dipakai jika narasumber merasa data yang didapat peneliti mampu menggambarkan pengalaman narasumber dan validasi argumentatif, di mana hasil penelitian dapat dibuktikan dengan melihat data mentah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktek meditasi mindfulness yang dijalani dapat menggeser pemaknaan kebahagiaan, yang dahulu berorientasi pada mengejar dan mempertahankan sesuatu menjadi penerimaan pada realitas saat ini, sebagaimana adanya. Perubahan tersebut dapat terjadi karena melaui meditasi mindfulness, para meditator belajar untuk tidak melekatkan pada pikiran melalui pengamatan terhadap pikiran yang terus mengalir, memfokuskan perhatian pada kualitas napas, serta menerima diri dan momen saat ini seutuhnya.
