Abstract
Abstract.
Previous studies demonstrated correlations between emotional
regulation and anxiety. Reappraisal was considered as a better regulation
than suppression. Further, suppresion increased physiological responses
which would be health damaging in a long-term. Investigator officers are
professionals who are prone to experience anxiety in their duties. The
officers have to do some careful and prudent investigation to collect
evidences of crimes, which may put them in danger, before submitting to the
attorney. The nature of the job put investigator officers in high risk of
experiencing anxiety unless they effectively regulated their emotion. The
study investigated the correlation between emotional regulation and anxiety
among investigator officers of Police Department and Civil Departments.
Participants were investigator officers who were participating in a training
organized by Educational Institution of Rechercheur and Crime in
Megamendung, Bogor. Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) from
Gross and John (2003) and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) from
Spielberger (2004) were conducted to 311 participants. Data analysis
resulted that there was significant negative correlation between reappraisal
and state anxiety. Further, t-tests demonstrated that investigators of Police
Department were more likey to do suppression and so those married
participants.

Abstrak.
Sejumlah studi telah memperlihatkan hubungan antara regulasi
emosi dan kecemasan. Reappraisal dianggap bentuk regulasi emosi yang
lebih baik daripada supresi. Menekan (supresi) ekspresi emosi dapat
meningkatkan aktivitas respon fisiologis sehingga dalam jangka panjang
merugikan kesehatan.
membahayakan dirinya selama penyelidikan, namun tetap berhati-hati agar
tidak melanggar asas praduga tidak bersalah. Penyidik rentan mengalami
