Peningkatan Antioksidan Endogen yang Dipicu Latihan Fisik

Abstract


Sudah tidak diragukan lagi bahwa latihan fisik memiliki manfaat yang begitu besar bagi kesehatan dan kebugaran tubuh manusia. Latihan fisik yang dilakukan secara teratur dapat menurunkan resiko penyakit degeneratif, seperti diabetes melitus, obesitas dan penyakit kardiovaskular. Beberapa penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa radikal bebas dan reaktive oxygen species (ROS) yang dihasilkan selama kontraksi otot memiliki peran fisiologis dalam adaptasi terhadap latihan fisik. Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) yang terbentuk dalam jumlah ringan-sedang saat seseorang melakukan latihan fisik dapat meningkatkan produksi antikoksidan endogen dalam tubuh. Melalui beberapa jalur transduksi sinyal, radikal bebas dalam jumlah ringan-sedang dapat mengaktifkan faktor transkripsi yang berperan dalam ekpresi gen antioksidan endogen. Peningkatan produksi antioksidan endogen selama latihan fisik dapat mencegah terjadinya stress oksidatif yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan sel dan komponennya.
